The 2024 Domaine Larue Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Murgers des Dents de Chien” is a taut, crystalline and intensely mineral Chardonnay, with a distinctly Puligny-like elegance. In fact, Kermit Lynch describes it as the Larue family’s favorite bottling of the 2024 vintage, noting that this exceptionally rocky, well-drained site performed particularly well in the rainy 2024 growing season.

The vineyard is one of Saint-Aubin’s most celebrated sites, sitting at the southern edge of the appellation beside Puligny-Montrachet, very close to the Montrachet grands crus. Larue farms five south-facing parcels at roughly 340 meters elevation, totaling 1.12 hectares. The soil is extremely thin and limestone-rich, with exposed rock forming the pointed “dog’s teeth” that give the climat its name. Some vines date back to 1946, with subsequent plantings in 1964, 1972, 1990 and 1997.

For the 2024, expect a nose dominated by flint, wet chalk, white flowers and citrus, opening with air toward white-fleshed fruit and a subtle toasted note. The palate should be concentrated without feeling heavy: lemon, crisp pear and white peach wrapped around crushed limestone, with a pronounced saline, stony tension carrying through a long, energetic finish.

The wine is fermented in barrel and sees roughly 20% new oak, followed by about 12 months on fine lees in barrel and another six months in temperature-controlled stainless steel. That élevage adds texture and a faint toastiness while allowing the limestone character to remain front and center.

Unless your delivery address is on the West Coast, we strongly discourage you from selecting “Ground Service” as your shipping method. During the winter and summer months, weather conditions (temperature) and longer delivery times can often result in the spoilage of your order. It doesn’t make sense to invest in fine wines and then take the chance of ruining them due environmental factors during transit (faster and safer delivery generally isn’t much more expensive). We don’t make an additional profit on accelerated delivery, but we frequently recommend faster shipping options to our customers outside the West Coast.
You must be 21 years of age to order or receive alcoholic beverages. Any shipments containing alcoholic beverages are sent with an “Adult Signature Required” sticker, and the common carrier that delivers our merchandise is required to ask and check for identification upon delivery. This means that an adult will have to be present at the time of delivery. Please consider shipping to an office address.
During periods of extreme weather, we attempt to ship wines at the beginning of each week in order to get shipments to you before the weekend. This is because we have no control over the temperature conditions at our freight carriers’ warehouses. The result may be that your shipment doesn’t go out the day that you place an order.
We ship by Fedex or Fedex Ground. Our prices include packaging materials. Insurance may be available for an additional charge.
