Verrier et Fils Champagne is a producer for five generations in the Marne village of Étoges—distinctive terroir virtually unknown outside of Ulysse Collin (and their wines priced into the stratosphere)—on the flank of the Côte des Blancs between Epernay and Sezanne,

Emmanuel Verrier runs the estate from the vine to the wine. In 1929, his grandfather decided to produce his own Champagne and expanded, purchasing the best local plots. Today, Verrier works with 35 plots totaling 5 hectares on sunny hillsides.

They produce a mere 30,000 bottles per year. Farming is HVE certified without the use of herbicides and insecticides.

This rosé wine displays a pinkish-orange hue with warm, coppery highlights. The gentle effervescence is expressed in fine bubbles that form a delicate ring on the surface. The overall presentation, shimmering and serene, speaks of a certain maturity.

The initial nose immediately reveals a complex expression typical of this style of Champagne: plum, blackcurrant, raspberry, cooked fruit, on a slightly smoky background. But after a few minutes, other nuances emerge, such as warm butter, pastries, and orange marmalade, giving this Rosé a truly distinctive character. Later still, violet, prune, pastry cream, and a pleasant minerality reveal the wine's maturity and complexity. It is a very balanced nose, poised between youthful and evolved aromas. It is also quite expressive, revealing a beautiful personality.

On the palate, the attack is lively, crisp, and dynamic, with a lovely freshness accompanied by a tonic effervescence. This freshness reappears with a touch of bite in the mid-palate. The dosage complements this acidity and adds a smooth, integrated quality to the wine's body. The wine's vinosity is quite pronounced (alcohol, richness) and supported by light tannins. Ultimately, the structure is balanced between freshness and tannins on the one hand, and vinosity and dosage on the other. Rather firm at the start, the texture of this Rosé becomes, as the tasting progresses, more tender and silky. The finish is clean and relatively supple. Moderately long, it nevertheless offers aromas of prune, clove, and cinnamon that confirm the complexity and maturity of this Rosé.

Unless your delivery address is on the West Coast, we strongly discourage you from selecting “Ground Service” as your shipping method. During the winter and summer months, weather conditions (temperature) and longer delivery times can often result in the spoilage of your order. It doesn’t make sense to invest in fine wines and then take the chance of ruining them due environmental factors during transit (faster and safer delivery generally isn’t much more expensive). We don’t make an additional profit on accelerated delivery, but we frequently recommend faster shipping options to our customers outside the West Coast.
You must be 21 years of age to order or receive alcoholic beverages. Any shipments containing alcoholic beverages are sent with an “Adult Signature Required” sticker, and the common carrier that delivers our merchandise is required to ask and check for identification upon delivery. This means that an adult will have to be present at the time of delivery. Please consider shipping to an office address.
During periods of extreme weather, we attempt to ship wines at the beginning of each week in order to get shipments to you before the weekend. This is because we have no control over the temperature conditions at our freight carriers’ warehouses. The result may be that your shipment doesn’t go out the day that you place an order.
We ship by Fedex or Fedex Ground. Our prices include packaging materials. Insurance may be available for an additional charge.
Vintage Wine Merchants, Inc. will arrange for shipment on behalf of the buyer, to an address specified by the buyer, provided that Vintage Wine Merchants, Inc. in its sole judgment believes that such shipment will not subject Vintage Wine Merchants, Inc. to the risk of any sort of legal action or other harm. If a buyer lives in a state where the direct shipment of wine by Vintage Wine Merchants, Inc. violates the law, we suggest that the buyer provide an alternative address in another state or have their wine shipped to a third-party storage facility in a direct shipping-friendly state.
