The deep crimson appearance offers a rich bouquet of ripe strawberry, cranberry, roasted coffee bean, and brown sugar. Leathery tannins are balanced with bright notes of juicy red cherry, fresh tobacco, and tea leaf on the palate. A pleasing finish of cedar and dark fruit lingers.
Laird winery is a family estate through and through. Established in 1970 by Ken and his wife Gale Laird. When Ken and Gale came across a piece of land in Calistoga they knew they had something special. The only things the couple lacked were financing and viticulture knowledge, so they reached out to Robert Mondavi for assistance. After walking through the property Robert Mondavi agreed to partner with the Laird family.
Ken and Gale made sure Laird's vineyards stayed a family affair. Their son, Justin became the Vineyard Manager and their daughter, Rebecca, became General Manager.
