The wine has a dark deep inky color with a highly aromatic bright nose featuring rich fruit, black cherry, strawberry, with a hint of toast. The palate is rich and dense with round and balanced soft tannins, long finish with fresh fruit. While this wine drinks beautifully now it will continue to improve over the next decade. This wine can be paired with dishes such as filet mignon, beef stews, wild game and dark chocolate.
Coquerel Family Wine Estates is located just beyond the town of Calistoga at the north end of the Napa Valley. The heart and soul of the winery is the estate vineyard, a gorgeous, oak-studded property that sits in the afternoon shadows of the Mayacamas Mountains. The combination of warm temperatures and deep, clay soils makes this ideal terroir for Sauvignon Blanc, our flagship variety. It also produces exceptional Verdelho, Tempranillo and Petite Sirah. Cabernet Sauvignon was first planted in 2014.
The unique conditions and favorable terroir produces exceptional fruit each vintage. All of the Coquerel wines are handmade in small lots to ensure character and authenticity. The whites are bright, crisp, elegant and well structured. The reds are intense, aromatic, harmonious and lush. Complexity, concentration, balance and minerality are the hallmarks of Coquerel wines.
