The 2016 Hunt & Harvest Pinot Noir is seamless and delectable. The enticing nose weaves together red currant, dark cherry, and cocoa nibs with an earthy edge. The palate delivers a delicate acid and lively tannin structure with complex flavors of dark berries and oaky spice. The finish is long and lingers with a lick of sweet oak and spice.
You will want to make something a little more special with this wine. Aged and ready to go, try grilled squab with briar berries and a succotash of roasted corn and bacon to match perfectly.
This is the first Hunt and Harvest wine sourced from fruit outside the Napa Valley. A long-time colleague offered the winery some fruit from one of his sought-after vineyards in the Red Hills just outside of Dundee, Oregon. Iron-rich soils and a mild climate create the perfect terroir for growing Pinot Noir.
Chris Hall and his family have been farming in Napa Valley since 1989. In addition to growing organic grapes, the Hall Family raises a herd of grass-fed highland beef cattle, produces estate-grown extra virgin olive oil and farm acres upon acres of organic fruits and vegetables throughout Northern California.
