(91-93) Tanzer - Deep, bright red. A step up in complexity from the Haut-Doix, with musky strawberry, raspberry and stone aromas and flavors complicated by a gamey nuance and accented by pepper-and-spice stem notes. Lovely silky, harmonious wine with an old-vines creamy concentration and suave balancing acidity. Vibrant and transparent to its terroir but not a bit hard. Finishes with broad, fine-grained tannins and a piquant touch of minerality. Nicolas Groffier believes that some of his 2016s--and especially this one--will shut down in bottle in about five years.
