92+ Vinous - Bright, dark red. Aromas of black cherry, brown spices, red licorice, menthol and earth; I might have guessed Morey-Saint-Denis. Silky and seamless on entry, then a bit youthfully wound-up in the middle palate, with its cherry and dark raspberry fruit flavors given punch by black pepper, saline mineral and savory soil tones. Showing limited mid-palate sweetness and so the firm tannins come across as rather dusty today. In a closed phase at present but displays solid mineral energy for the vintage. Forty-eight hours later, this wine showed darker notes of black raspberry and violet and more Gevrey-typical minerality, plus a suaver mid-palate texture with smoother tannins and more length.
