The combination of the right clones and cool growing region produced juicy tropical fruit and lemongrass flavors with a touch of minerality at the end of a long finish that are perfect with a wide range of food, including grilled seafood, chicken, oysters, creamy pastas dishes and summer salads. 2013 Laird Cabernet Sauvignon Flat Rock – 74.98
94 Wine Advocate – The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Flat Rock Ranch, from another Yountville site, is softer than the Mast Ranch, with sweet tannin, dense purple color, plenty of crème de cassis, blackberry and blueberry. There is a nice floral element as well, and the wine finishes full, rich and impressive.

2016 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Aloxe Corton Les Valozieres 1er Cru – 85.98
An overtly floral nose combines notes of red and dark currant, earth and a whiff of game. The rich and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess the usual muscle of a fine Valozières while delivering fine if not great depth and length on the mildly rustic and youthfully austere finale. Good quality here. – Burghound
2016 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Bourgogne Rouge Gelee Royale – 63.98
A brooding and very somber nose speaks of earth, humus, the sauvage and almost exclusively aromas from the dark side of the fruit spectrum. The rich, delicious and velvet-textured medium weight flavors possess excellent punch and a subtle minerality on the impressively long finish. I do not know how this will be priced but it’s a great example of the genre even if it’s not a true Bourgogne in the normal context. That said, it’s possible to drink very well for less. – Burghound
2016 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru – 225.98
90-93 Burghound – A discreet but not invisible application of oak sets off more elegant aromas of citrus, white flower, Granny Smith apples and wet stone. There is taut muscularity to the full-bodied and much more mineral-driven broad-shouldered flavors that brim with minerality on the clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This will require at least a few years of bottle age and should reward up to a decade’s worth.
2016 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Pernand Vergelesses Blanc Ile-des-Vergelesses – 73.98

90 Wine Advocate – A cuvée that was produced from 1.7 hectares around the village and saw 20% new wood, the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village exhibits pretty aromas of white flowers, lime zest, pear and subtle oak vanillin. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with nice concentration, an open and expressive core and a precise, chalky finish. This will drink very well out of the gates given its charming but classic profile.
2017 Domaine Fontaine Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru – 119.98
93 Wine Advocate – Offering up aromas of apple blossom, crisp orchard fruit, dried white flowers and honeycomb, the lovely 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is medium to full-bodied, satiny and expansive, with a lovely line of animating acidity, a deep core and a long, pure finish.
2013 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna del Piano – 269.98
96 Wine Advocate – Showing ripe and balanced fruit, the Valdicava 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna del Piano (with 15,666 bottles produced) offers many very positive attributes. The wine flaunts a slightly contemporary or international side, and it does so with extreme confidence and elegance. Much of that natural balance comes directly from the classic vintage that exhibits both the structure and acidity necessary for prolonged cellar aging. Now, in the wine’s youngest phase, it offers lush primary cherry and blackberry flavors followed carefully by measured spice, toast and red rose potpourri.
